Prince Akeem and Semmi are Coming 2 America! That’s right, the sequel to Coming to America is actively being filmed in Atlanta as we speak.
Coming 2 America stars Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall and several A-Listers
Remember Prince Akeem, who left Africa to look for a wife in Queens, New York back in 1988. But instead, he fell in love with the daughter of the owner of a fast food joint called McDowell’s? This time around, he has a whole new reason for visiting Queens, New York.
Summoned back to America, the plot has Prince Akeem and Semmi returning to search for his heir to the throne, a son he knew nothing about. Very Interesting. Coming 2 America is set to hit the big screen in 2020.
Set to reprise his role as Prince Akeem is Eddie Murphy. Joining Murphy will be original cast members, Arsenio Hall as his best friend Semmi and James Earl Jones as his father King Jaffe Joffer.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Wesley Snipes will portray a new character, General Izzi. a leader of a tribe near Zamunda, the fictional homeland of Akeem.
Also attached to the project is Rapper, Entrepreneur and Record Executive Rick Ross, Former college basketball player, Comedian, and Actress Leslie Jones. Additionally, actress Kiki Layne of If Beale Street Could Talk will play Prince Akeem’s daughter.
