Girlfriends’ Persia White, Golden Brooks and Jill Marie Jones Join Tracee Ellis Ross On Episode Of Blackish
Running on UPN for 6 seasons, we watched as the four went through all their ups and downs together. Then we were floored after Jill Marie Jones, who played ‘Toni’ left the show without explanation to us viewers. However, the show did go on via another network, The CW for 2 more seasons, and we hung in there with them.
Finally! eleven whole years after the show ended, which was a favorite for many, we get to see our ‘girlfriends’ together once more.
Can’t wait to see the crew, known to all of us that love the show as Joan, Lynn, Maya and Toni (I’m still mad about Toni leaving the show early) reunite on Blackish. As reported by Entertainment Weekly, Tracee Ellis Ross commented about the reunion –
“The timing was perfect to be able to bring Girlfriends to a whole new audience. We haven’t all been together on camera since 2006. Girlfriends ran for eight years and was important to so many people. Being able to merge the worlds of black-ish and Girlfriends was surreal for me — and so much fun. These are women I grew up with and love deeply and it was easy to tap back into the magic of our chemistry and how much we love each other. It was giggles on top of giggles on top of giggles.”
Premiering on September 24 at 9:30 p.m. on ABC, Blackish will start it’s 6th season.
But also set your recorders for October 8th, that’s the episode where the crew will be getting back together…and it’s gonna be huge.
