Michael Jordan Gives Back To His Hometown Community That Supported Him For Years
On Thursday, the Charlotte Hornets owner was on hand for the grand opening of the Novant Health Michael Jordan Family Medical Clinic. In his statements at the event, the NBA Hall-of-Famer stated –
“I stand here before you as a proud parent, son, obviously a member of this community. My mother, my brothers, my daughter, my grandson, we all represent the name ‘Michael Jordan,’ As you can see, it’s a very emotional thing for me. To be able to give back to a community that’s supported me over the years.”
MJ Pledges Donation Of $7 Million At Second Area Of Charlotte
Along with the health clinic, MJ is also pledging to donate $7 million to a second clinic. Described as a “second economically-disadvantaged area of Charlotte,” it will be in the Brightwalk development on Statesville Avenue.” As reported by the Source, this donation marks his largest donation.
Though Michael Jordan was born in New York, he gained his legendary status playing for the Chicago Bulls. However, he makes it clear that he does not have to be reminded where it all started. And that’s Charlotte, North Carolina.
Proud to bring his efforts back to the hometown where he was raised since a toddler, MJ couldn’t help but become quite emotional at the grand opening of the clinic that bears his name.
