Nicki Minaj is now Mrs. Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty
It’s official, Nicki Minaj is now Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty. Making the announcement on Monday via social media, Mrs. Petty also confirmed that she was taking her new husband Kenneth Petty’s last name, according to TMZ.
Already changing her name on her Twitter account to Mrs. Petty months ago, the couple went into the last mile planning the nuptials.
So Who Is Kenneth Petty
Other than he is a Queens, New York native and works in the music industry, not much is known about Nicki’s new husband’s occupation. Reportedly the two are working together in the music industry.
But it’s not all good, Nicki’s new husband has a very checkered past, as reported by hiphollywood.com. Even spending some years in a jail cell. Here is some not so pleasant facts about Mr. Petty, he –
- is a registered sex offender
- has 12 mug shots
- served time over a shooting death
As reported by TMZ, Nicki believes Kenneth Petty has matured since those things happened. After all, one of the incidents occurred when Petty and his alleged assault victim were both 16 years old. Let’s hope she’s right.
Mrs. Petty Says Her Husband Makes Her So Happy
Obtaining a marriage license back in June of this year, Minaj stated on Queen Radio that she would getting married in ‘about 80 days,’ as reported by TMZ.
“I have to work on my album and I have a lot to focus on that I don’t want to do the big wedding now, we’ll do the big wedding later.”

Rekindling a high school romance, the couple have been together for about a year now. Uploaded to Nicki’s 100+ million followers, photos appear to show the big event as happening on October 21, 2019. Photos show mugs with the saying “Mr. & Mrs.” and baseball caps with “Bride” and “Groom.”
Reportedly, the two have been talking future babies. Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Petty!
