O.K. I know this next one wasn’t at a Super Bowl, but is is so exceptional that I can’t help but include it here. Come witness again the smooth, magical rendition of the National Anthem performed by Marvin Gaye at the NBA All-Star game on February 13, 1983. Enjoy!

To be honest, I don’t even think he heard the music. He appeared to be singing to his own beat, and it was brilliant.

Though it may not be the Super Bowl National Anthem, you can see some other great performances of the Star Spangled Banner by black performers here.
