Floyd Mayweather Had Tumultuous Relationship With Former Girlfriend josie harris; once served time in jail for domestic violence
Police were called to the home of Josie Harris, ex-girlfriend and baby mama to 3 kids by the boxing great, 42-year-old Floyd Mayweather. Upon arriving at her home in Valencia, California, she was in her car and unresponsive. This happened on Tuesday night, as confirmed by TMZ Sports.
According to TMZ Sports, they were told by law enforcement that –
- officials were called to her home around 9:30 PM
- they found 40-year-old Harris unresponsive in her car
- she was pronounced dead at the scene
- there does not appear to be any foul play
- the case is being treated as a death investigation (as opposed to a homicide)
Josie Harris, an aspiring actress who was in the process of writing a book to ‘help survivors of domestic violence’, dated Floyd from 1995 to 2010.
Around the end of their relationship, Floyd Mayweather was accused of attacking her in a domestic violence case. He was later convicted and served 2 months behind bars in 2012..
Although Josie Harris accused the ex-boxer, now boxing promotor, of abusing her on 6 different occasions, the conviction was for a single incident that transpired on September 10th of that year.
In the criminal case filed against Mayweather, Harris alleges that he entered her Vegas home while she slept, pulled her hair and then attacked her in front of their children. She further claimed that their oldest son snuck out and alerted a security guard and police were summoned.
Years later, the accusations made by Harris were denied by Mayweather during an interview with Katie Couric, He said –
“Did I restrain a woman that was on drugs? Yes, I did. So if they say that’s domestic violence, then, you know what? I’m guilty. I’m guilty of restraining someone.”
Angered by his statements during the interview, Harris sued Mayweather for more than $20 MILLION for defamation. The case is still open.
