Bill Withers died today, April 3, 2020, of heart complications at the age of 81. The soulful singer, songwriter is known for his many hits of the ’70’s.

According to his family, The brilliant, legendary soulful Bill Withers has moved on to his ‘castle in the sky’ at the age of 81 in Los Angeles, California. In a statement, the family says –
“We are devastated by the loss of our beloved, devoted husband and father. A solitary man with a heart driven to connect to the world at large, with his poetry and music, he spoke honestly to people and connected them to each other.”
The 3-time Grammy Award winner’ has given the world some of the most encouraging and inspirational music that still resonates today.
As reported by TMZ, some residents at a Dallas apartment building who are under Quarantine due to the coronavirus pandemic, sat in their windowsills a couple weeks ago, singing his hit song, “Lean On Me” to lift their spirits.
Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015, Withers withdrew from making music to live a more private life with his family. Many artist have sampled his early hits.
Another statement from his family says –
“As private a life as he lived close to intimate family and friends, his music forever belongs to the world.”
