Summer Walker delivers with her debut album, Over It. Released near the end of last year, 24-year-old Walker officially reached RIAA Platinum status on Thursday, May 7, 2020.
Summer Walker “Over It” Goes From Gold To Platinum, Despite Her Social Anxiety
Simply capturing her post with “Officially platinum,” on Instagram, Atlanta native singer Summer Marjani Walker is on cloud nine. That’s right, Over It has reached platinum status, her first effort out of the gate.
Taking 7 months to reach platinum since it’s release in October of 2019, the album went gold in December.
As for how the singer and songwriter did on Billboard’s Top 200 albums chart, The “Girls Need Love” singer debuted at #2. As reported by The Source, Walker managed to do really well on her first effort, even though she canceled her tour to support the project.
Earning the biggest streaming debut ever for a female R&B artist, Summer made history. Another highlight, she received the ‘Best New Artist’ at the 2019 Soul Train Music Awards.
Reportedly, Summer Walker suffers from social anxiety and once contemplated ending her blossoming career forever. She has since given up on that idea.
