BOB JOHNSON BRINGING SLAVERY REPARATIONS TALK BACK TO THE FOREFRONT
Again, reparations for the sins of slavery in America are being talked about. Bob Johnson, the founder of Black Entertainment Television, is calling on the U.S. Government to make amends for the atrocities of the historic beginnings of America.
74-year old media mogul Bob Johnson, who is the first black billionnaire, spoke up on CNBC’s Squawk Box to call on the U.S. government to offer a $14 trillion reparations plan.
If followed through, African Americans, descendants of slaves in the United States would benefit. Maybe it will go a long way to distinguish the unrest in America’s streets, as reported by The Source.
Johnson was asked, “Where would the $14 trillion dollars come from? He answered that question by putting it this way –
“Think about this. Since 200-plus-years or so of slavery, labor taken with no compensation, is a wealth transfer. Denial of access to education, which is a primary driver of accumulation of income and wealth, is a wealth transfer,”
“i’m talking about cash. we are a society on wealth. that’s the foundation of capitalism.”
Adding to his statement, Bob Johnson says –
“african americans, with no accumulation of wealth, cannot afford to meet the payments of home ownership”
“When you put all these factors together, lack of access to education, lack of access of home ownership… and descrimination, you have had for the past 200 years a wealth transfer of white americans away from african americans”
Here what he has to say for yourself –
Black folks were promised 40 acres and a mule at the end of slavery. That never happened. And I’m sorry to say, I don’t think it ever will.
