Jussie Smollett Is Back At Work After A Long Hiatus
Ever since the former “Empire” star made accusations of a hate crime, even inserting politics in the mix, he has been in nothing but negative headlines. Though he has always maintained his innocence, serious doubts were levied against the actor’s claims. Industry heads assumed he would never work again, but maybe that’s not the case.
Though the “hoax” ultimately cost him his lucrative gig with the hit series, “Empire”, it looks like a comeback is in his future. Because now, Jussie’s in the director’s chair.
Produced through Jussie’s newly launched production company, SuperMassive Movies under the Story Worthy Pictures Banner, this film adaptation of the popular “B-Boy Blues” is now being filmed in New York City.
In addition to being the Director, Smollett will also co-produce with James Earl Hardy, Wilson, Frank Gadson, Sampson McCormick and Madia Hill Scott.
So What Is B-Boy Blues All About Anyway?
B-Boy Blues is an adaptation of a 1994 book which has sold millions world-wide, written by James Earl Hardy. Described as a black, gay, hip-hop love story, B-Boy Blues has been a staple in the LGBTQ+ community,
Slated to star in this project are Ledisi, Brandon Evans, and Broderick Hunter, as reported by TMZ.
Legal troubles are not quite over yet. Still facing criminal charges and a civil suit in Chicago, Jussie Smollett seems to be going full speed ahead.
Directing is not exactly new to Jussie, he actually took a shot at it for 2 episodes of “Empire”. So, don’t count him out just yet. Will you be supporting his project?
