Kool and The Gang became a staple in soul music back in the day. 2 Brothers from Jersey City, New Jersey (Robert “Kool” Bell and Ronald Bell) joined with Dennis “Dee Tee” Thomas, Robert “Spike” Mickens, Charles Smith, George Brown, and Ricky West to form the band, Kool And The Gang.
Since then, Kool And The Gang have consisted of many personnel changes. Additionally, their music also evolved, covering soul, funk, jazz, rock and pop music.
This week, the group lost one of their own. Saxophonist Dennis Thomas, one of the original members, past away this week in his sleep. He was 70 years old.
